Keeping Healthy

Children with liver disease can do several things to stay as healthy as possible:

  1. Good nutrition helps the body heal. Obesity, on the other hand, can harm the liver.
  2. Avoid alcohol: Drinking alcohol can further injure the liver.
  3. Be immunized with pneumococcal, hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccines.
  4. Follow-up consistently with doctor visits and lab studies.
  5. Take medicines as instructed.
  6. Try as much as possible to maintain a normal routine at school and at home.
