According to the Academy of Pediatrics website http://www.aap.org/practicingsafety/module7.htm “In learning to use the toilet, the child takes a dramatic step toward control of his own life.” Assessing the child’s readiness is a crucial part in the toilet training process. It can be a very frustrating and challenging component to parenting. The Community Education and Child Advocacy team sought expert advice and review of this information from Pam Lemons, RN and Dr. Carolyn Lytle, of Developmental Pediatrics at Riley Children’s Hospital to offer our Practical Guide for Toilet Training for parents seeking advice, help, and support through this process.
