The Riley Community Education and Child Advocacy Department develops education and advocacy programs and resources for children, adolescents, families and professionals for use in their communities. From Fort Wayne to Indianapolis to Evansville, to every community in between, we think of all Hoosier children as "Riley Kids." To accomplish our mission, we advocate for Strong Families by providing educational resources for all families that encourage positive relationships and a supportive environment for children.

Resources address the following topics:

  • Parenting issues
  • Babysitting for children with special needs
  • Self-esteem
  • Sibling support

Toolboxes with instructions and teaching materials available for loan:

  • Toilet training
  • Hoppin’ for Health

Brochures:

  • Safe Sleeping for Your Baby (English and Spanish)
  • Baby walker dangers
  • Shaken Infant Syndrome
  • Special Children Need Special Care

Programs available for loan to communities:

  • Kids are Great (enhancing children’s self esteem)
  • Hoppin’ for Health (CD based curriculum to introduce preschoolers to healthcare basics)
  • Language development
  • Toilet training

Trainings for Communities (nominal fee):

  • Special Care Sitter School Based Program (curriculum trains teens to be babysitters for children with special health care needs)
  • Sibling Workshops and Facilitator Trainings
