Kids Are Great Program

No matter what their age, all kids need to know that they are loved and that they are cared for by their family and friends. Our kids need to know that by virtue of just who they are - they bring to this world extraordinary gifts, talents, and personalities.

Many kids don't know. And many kids will never know unless we make the time to tell them they are great.

That's what Kids Are Great has to offer - activities for caring adults to use to reach kids of all ages to help them recognize and celebrate their uniqueness.

We can't wait. Indiana leads the nation in child fatality rates due to child abuse and neglect. Among the most overweight in the nation, our state's children face precarious futures and potentially lifelong battles with health and self esteem. The failure of many of our kids to earn a high school diploma sets them on a spiraling downward course of low-wage jobs and borderline poverty. Rates of suicide, pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and patterns of continuing abuse of substances by our teens and young people all are indicators of children who need to be listened to and heard.

Let's start now and again and again, remind our kids at all ages that they are great and build a strong foundation of self esteem to help them weather the challenges of the daily world and to build a future of promise.
