Pediatric Orthopedics Services

The Pediatric Orthopedics specialists and surgeons at Riley Hospital for Children, provide diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with musculoskeletal conditions, congenital or traumatic amputations, children with cerebral palsy, children paralyzed with myelomeningocele, and sports medicine injuries and interventions.

Pediatric Orthopedics offers care for all children with musculoskeletal conditions including:

  • Achondroplasia
  • Osteogenesis Imperfecta

  • Musculoskeletal Tumors

Amputee Clinical Service

Provides diagnosis and treatment for children with congenital or traumatic amputations. Physiologic and psychologic support for patients and their families is available, with the services of occupational and physical therapy utilized. Prosthetic assessment is also offered.

Cerebral Palsy Treatment Center

The Cerebral Palsy Treatment Center offers diagnosis and treatment for children having the multiple handicaps of cerebral palsy. The center offers diagnosis via pediatric neurologists and assessment by pediatric orthopedic surgeons. In addition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, dental and social work are available, all of which support the child in activities of daily living.

Myelomeningocele Clinical Service

The Myelomeningocele Clinical Service provides treatment to children paralyzed by myelomeningocele. Services provided include orthopedic, urologic, physical and occupational therapy, nursing and dietary evaluation and treatment. Neurosurgical treatment is provided by the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service.

Motion Assessment Laboratory

The Motion Assessment and Gait Evaluation Laboratory is located at Riley Hospital. It contains a VICON Motion Analysis System providing three-dimensional kinematics, AMTI force plate for kinetic evaluation and EMG's for muscle evaluation.

Sports Medicine Clinic

Sports Medicine Clinic is newly established in conjunction with Riley Hospital for Children. The Clinic addresses the special needs of children and adolescents for participation in an active healthy lifestyle as well as orthopedic intervention when appropriate dealing with the injuries that these athletes incur. A variety of problems are addressed including ligamentous and cartilage injuries to the knee and ankle, shoulder instability problems as well as overuse injuries to the upper and lower extremities and spine.

Patients are scheduled Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 p.m. by referral only.

IMACS physician resource specialists are trained professionals who will expertly direct your call, even if you are not certain whom to ask for. Clarian Health Partners operates IMACS, and they follow detailed guidelines, established by our medical staff, to help you select the most appropriate person or area.

IMACS specialists will stay with you on the line until your call is complete to ensure you receive the information you need. They can transfer your call to a different area or help you make multiple contacts with just one call.

For routine consultations or referrals, please call IMACS Monday-Friday from 8am until 5:30pm. For emergency consultations or referrals, IMACS operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
