Riley Hospital and the Riley Heart Center contain a clinical infrastructure that continues to deliver improved outcomes through increased volumes and significantly lower cardiac mortality rates than the national average for pediatric hospitals, despite our much greater mix of high-complexity cases.

Among the highlights of the pediatric cardiac units:

  • 500 cardiac catheterizations
  • 7,000 echo-Doppler studies and 5,000 EKG tracings per year
  • Over 700 fetal echocardiograms per year
  • Interpretation of over 2000 additional echos sent from other hospitals
  • 650 cardiac surgical cases per year
  • Approximately 150 - 170 outpatient visits are handled weekly
  • An additional 20 - 30 patients are seen weekly at clinics throughout the state
