Overview:

The section of General and Community Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine is dedicated to academic excellence and leadership in general pediatric health care through outstanding patient service, systematic training of medical students and residents, innovative research and comprehensive family oriented advocacy for our patients and their communities.

Mission:

Our mission is to provide state of the art primary care services for the children of Indiana in an academic setting, while embracing the cultural diversity of their extended families. Our teams offer comprehensive pediatric care in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. We have a strong commitment to education and training of the next generation of pediatricians in primary care, academic general pediatrics and community leadership. The division's own faculty and fellows investigate issues related to primary pediatric care in Children's Health Services Research.

Our faculty is deeply invested in partnership with the community through Dyson Community Pediatric Training Initiative to improve patient education (La Plaza – Hispanic Education Center), prevent and deal with victims of domestic violence (Julian Center), support families of children with special needs (About Special Kids – ASK) and provide transitional care for the youth and adults with conditions of childhood (CYACC).
