Services

Medication Management:

The objective of this service is to stabilize many of the life-debilitating behaviors that coincide with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Decreasing behaviors such as hyperactivity, anxiety, compulsiveness, aggression, self-injury as well as many others, often aid the child in achieving his/her potential and participating as fully as possible in family, school, and community life.

Behavioral Services:

The objective of the ABA-based behavioral service portion of our program is to provide caregivers of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders tools to help reduce or eliminate maladaptive behaviors while promoting the acquisition, maintenance, and generalization of alternative and appropriate behaviors. Current services in the clinical setting provide assistance in setting behavior specific goals, altering the environment to limit factors that might impede the learning process, and teaching skills necessary for the maintenance of behavior management.

Community Based Therapy:

The objective of this service is to provide offsite visits to patients in the school, home, and/or institutional settings. These visits enable observation in the natural setting which is imperative to the development, maintenance, and modification of intervention plans individualized to the client and his/her environment. By receiving direct guidance from the clinician in the child’s natural environment, the caregivers will be enabled to provide effective care and implement indicated interventions, as well as consistent support and reinforcement. Our program typically serves the greater Indianapolis area, preferably within a 25-mile radius of Riley Hospital for Children.

Supportive Counseling:

The objective of supportive counseling is to help families process through the realization of the disorder as well as deal with the impact that the child’s behavior has on various family dynamics and its components, such as siblings and marital relationships. This type of counseling also focuses on identifying the individual and group needs of the family and connecting the family with the various, appropriate resources.

Traditional Diagnostic Interview:

The objective of this interview is to effectively evaluate children and adolescents for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Diagnostic interviews are available on a regular basis and are performed by the faculty. During this interview, the developmental and medical history will be taken of your child. Also a series of diagnostic questions will be asked in order to appropriately evaluate your child.

Co-treatment Therapy Models:

The objective of this type of treatment is to incorporate two or more individual therapy sessions into a single session. Co-treatment therapy sessions are often advantageous to clinicians, as well as children, when dealing with children with multiple therapeutic needs. Co-treatment therapist combinations include clinical psychologist and/or clinical social worker, education specialist, and/or behavior specialist.
