Zafirlukast

Action:

Zafirlukast is a long term controller medication. It blocks the airway muscle tightening, swelling and mucus production that occurs when the lungs have been exposed to an asthma trigger.

How to Take:

Zafirlukast is a pill that is taken twice a day, every day regardless of the presence or absence of symptoms. It should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Headache, nausea

Comments:

  • Zafirlukast is a preventative medication and will not give immediate relief during an asthma episode.
