Montelukast

Action:

This medication interrupts the inflammatory pathway by blocking chemicals known to contribute to asthma symptoms.

How to Take:

Montelukast is taken by mouth as a tablet.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Uncommon side effects can include drowsiness, headache, or rarely rash or flu-like symptoms.

Comments:

  • Notify your physician if side effects occur after starting this medication.
  • Montelukast is a preventative medication and will not give immediate relief during an asthma episode.
