Construction Worker Helps Save Riley Child's Life

Cory Alexander of Pepper Construction was hosing down the intersection at the entrance to the Simon Family Tower project when a speeding car ran the stop sign and turned into the emergency department entrance. Alexander saw the driver leap out and run inside the hospital, then a woman get out of the car screaming for help. He jumped over the guardrail and ran to her side.

The couple's 8-year-old had stopped breathing.

The child's mother performed rescue breathing while Alexander began chest compressions. When hospital staff got to the car, the child had started breathing again.

The grateful parents thanked Alexander the next day for helping save their child's life. He credited his past work in the medical field for his quick response.

"I was only doing what I had been trained for," he said.
