In 2005, Riley Hospital for Children announced a $500 million, 10-year strategic plan that will benefit Indiana’s children, families and communities. A critical component of the plan includes the construction of a 10-story inpatient tower designed to add capacity, increase efficiency and enhance patient satisfaction. The Simon Family Tower is scheduled for completion in 2013.

Now known as the Simon Family Tower, the $435 million expansion will increase access to Riley’s expert care, highlighting its role as the state’s preeminent pediatrics medical provider, and is the first step toward allowing Riley Hospital to meet its goal to be one of the largest and best children’s hospitals in the nation.

SERVING THE COMMUNITY IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND BEYOND

• URGENT NEED
  There is an urgent need for the expansion because most days Riley operates at capacity. The last partial inpatient expansion was completed over 20 years ago - 1986 - and the current facility need updating.
• FAMILY-CENTERED CARE PRINCIPLES
  The Simon Family Tower will incorporate Family-Centered Care principles and family amenities. Private rooms will be offered that will reduce infection rates, enhance patient privacy and satisfaction and empower patients to be a greater part of the treatment/recovery process.
