Riley Hospital continues to be recognized as one of the top children's hospitals in the nation.

Parents
Nationally distributed Parents magazine recognized Riley Hospital for Children's neonatal and pulmonary care departments in the top five nationally, fourth and fifth respectively, among select specialties that were ranked. In addition, Riley was ranked among the top 25 – 16th overall – in the nation. The rankings appeared in the February 2009 edition of Parents magazine.

Five specialty programs at Riley Hospital for Children were ranked among the top 30 children's hospitals in the nation in U.S.News & World Report's 2008 edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals. The following specialty programs were recognized:
- Neonatal Care: 12th
- Respiratory Disorders: 14th
- Digestive Disorders: 16th
- Cancer: 25th
- Neurology & Neurosurgery: 26th

National Recognition for Nursing Excellence
Clarian has earned Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Magnet Recognition Program® honors excellence in nursing services and high quality clinical outcomes for patients. Clarian's downtown hospitals – Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children – have achieved Magnet status, an honor given to less than 5 percent of all hospitals in the nation.
