The Riley Safety Store participated in Fiesta Indianapolis on Saturday, September 19, from 12 noon to 5 pm at the American Legion Mall and Veterans Memorial Plaza in downtown Indianapolis. Rosy Sandoval, Education Associate, represented the Riley Safety Store at this event where Rosy carried out education on proper use along with the distribution of 100 Voice Activated Smoke alarms and 75 Carbon Monoxide detectors for free to families attending Fiesta Indianapolis. Rosy also provided fire safety and burn prevention education as part of the Riley Hospital Community Education and Child Advocacy display at this event, which annually attracts 30,000 attendees.
The free smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors were made possible by a grant from Homeland Security. Karen Bruner Stroup, PhD, Director, Riley Community Education and Child Advocacy, stated that “We were pleased that Rosy Sandoval represented the Riley Safety Store and joined with the Automotive Safety Program at Riley Hospital and the Indiana University School of Medicine Community 1 residents also participating at this event to present a coordinated outreach and presence in health and safety education for families at Fiesta Indianapolis.
