Simon Family Gives $40 Million to Riley Hospital for Children; Largest Gift in Hospital's History

11/14/2007

INDIANAPOLIS - Today, November 14, the Simon family announced a gift of $40 million toward the completion of the new 10-story inpatient tower at Riley Hospital for Children. The Riley Hospital for Children Simon Family Tower will be completed by 2013, with the first phase opening in 2009.

The Simon family's gift serves as the cornerstone of Hope Happens Here: The Campaign for Indiana's Children, by the Riley Children's Foundation, which is the first fundraising campaign for Riley since the hospital was built 83 years ago. The campaign will focus on three priorities:

1. Clinical programs: The only facility in Indiana where children benefit from access to 250 physicians from every pediatric sub-specialty, regardless of their family's ability to pay.

2. Research: Over the next three to five years, the campaign will seek funding to continue to attract the world's best physician scientists to IU School of Medicine and Riley Hospital.

3. Facilities: The campaign will continue to seek support to equip and complete the new 10-story inpatient tower.
