Visiting Hours for Patient Care UnitsOne parent is encouraged to remain overnight at the bedside. The other parent may visit the child 24 hours a day. The Newborn and Pediatric Intensive Care Units are an exception for overnight stay because sleeping cannot be accommodated at the bedside. Standard Visiting Hours for all pediatric units, Newborn and Pediatric Intensive Care is 11 AM to 9 PM. All visitors must stop at the nurses station prior to visitation for final approval and pertinent instructions. Two visitors per patient per hour is the maximum encouraged for non-immediate family, especially for patients who share a room. Nursing approval is required to extend visiting hours. Age Related RestrictionsVisitors under the age of 18 are restricted to the hospital lobbies and unit lounges and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Underage visitations, including brothers and sisters, must be prearranged. Parents will complete a health screen questionnaire provided by the Information Desk or Emergency Admitting staff. In order to visit nursing units, underage visitors must not have had exposure to chicken pox, whooping cough, or measles in the past 22 days. They also must be found free of the following symptoms: cold, diarrhea, cough, fever, sore throat, rash, runny nose, or vomiting. When the results of the health screen are satisfactory, the completed questionnaire will be taken to the nurses' station for final visitation approval by unit nursing staff. Hospital Secured Hours (9 PM to 6 AM)Visitations during secured hours must be approved by nursing staff. Special visitor badges may be obtained at the Information Desk or the Emergency Admitting Office. |
